It has been confirmed that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

An Important Reunion for Fans

The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The Storyline and Fresh Faces

The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
