World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She earned almost 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a extended hiatus after the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
